Are fog lights necessary anymore?

With technology advancing every day by the minute, should car manufactures continue the current trend of producing top trim level models without fog lights?

Cars look more aggressive with fog lights. I think it should still be an option even if tech proves they're not actually needed.

My annoying issue. Crazy how manufacturers give all this high tech lighting but now delete the fog lights. However trucks and SUV’s are still worthy of them. Some track cars may delete for weight saving. But they should always be available. Hell my SL has rear fog lights. Front FL are mandatory for performance driving at night or even in the rain when just a marker is needed to show your car to other drivers. They just look right.

The hell with other car makers. MB! As a a return customer for 25 year. Shame on you for deleting fog light. 👎🏼👎🏼 bad move.
